- Abstract
- Positive spiritual growth in mature adults can be fostered by their engagement in expanded lay ministry. The project involves the recruitment, training and deployment of a small group of senior lay pastoral and sacramental assistants in a suburban Anglican parish. The author uses phenomenological research methodology, and as participant-observer describes changes in the participants' self-assessed spiritual status, using as data before and after interviews. The report concludes that when older people with available time are encouraged to use appropriate adult education methods to develop an expanded ministry spiritual growth can occur.
