  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between religious coping in coronary artery disease patients that present with essential hypertension. Patients from Florida Hospital Family Health Center completed the Religiosity Coping Index. Results of the questionnaire and interviews with patients regarding the relationship between religious coping and hypertension indicate that chaplain intervention may assist patients in dealing with conflicts between treatment for hypertension, the patient's spiritual beliefs and religious practices.
