- Abstract
- The purpose of this project is to provide a program that will serve as a transition between the anticipation of the pastoral situation and the actual experience of that situation. This program includes a handbook to assist newly ordained ministers to cope with the political realities of church administration, with its attendant demands, promises, tensions, and rewards. The method was extensive reading in the theology of church administration, supported by interviews and case studies. The conclusion is that seminaries excel in the academic disciplines, but restrictions of time limit an emphasis on the needed practical disciplines of the pastorate.
