Abstract
  • The research question is whether teaching Murray Bowen's family systems theory and therapy techniques to Taiwan C&MA women church leaders will enable them to become more effective counselors. A training course of 12 sessions was conducted. Instruments used for measurement included a pre- and posttraining questionnaire, quizzes, weekly journals, the seminar evaluation form, and the analysis of the participant's family autobiography. As a result of the course, participants were able to view people and problems from a systemic perspective, identify unhealthy ways of relating in people's family-of-origin and present family, and describe effective strategies for lasting change.
