Abstract
  • This dissertation gives a Biblical and theological defense of the necessity of exhortation in preaching. Exhortation is persuading the listener to respond to the call of the text through proclaiming the point of the text, in the voice of the text. The thesis of this dissertation is that exhortation is not only essential to text-driven preaching but is inherent within every text.
