- Abstract
- This paper describes the covenant relationship between congregation and minister in terms of what the New Testament calls 'koinonia.' Koinonia is defined as a consensual partnership between a church's membership and minister(s) in which the roles and expectations of each party for the other are explicitly understood. The significant conclusions of this paper are that through a covenant process the reality of koinonia between laity and clergy as envisioned by the New Testament can be established and maintained in the local church today. Perceptions of laity-clergy relationships as perceived from biblical and Reformed theological perspectives can also be relearned and reclaimed.
