Abstract
  • In order to promote forgiveness among members of extended families in the church context of Indonesia, relevant biblical, theoretical, and cultural elements regarding forgiveness were analyzed and integrated into lessons for the promotion of forgiveness through a workshop format. It was hypothesized that the incorporation of biblical teaching and cultural aspects of forgiveness would provide a forgiveness paradigm that could increase the motivation to forgive among the target community. However, the increase of scores in the willingness to forgive after the workshop was not statistically significant. Implications for further research are discussed.
