Abstract
  • The demographic phenomenon of 77 million Americans beginning to turn 50 in 1996 opens the door for tremendous new ministry opportunities in the local church. Forerunner Ministries is one of the first in the nation to systematize a national ministry for older adults. Research for this project was accomplished through surveys, interviews, and appropriate book and literature exploration. The conclusion reached by this study indicates that the coming onslaught of an aging population will change the primary method of ministry in the local church, resulting in a diminished focus on youth ministry and a new emphasis on ministry to senior adults.
