Abstract
  • There exists certain social factors that have a definite affect on the involvement of church members who go through the process of divorce. To uncover these factors twenty-eight 'main-line' Protestant church members were interviewed, each having been a member of a rural or small town church at the time of divorce. The interviews revealed specific factors that caused some divorcing people to leave the church and other factors that enabled some to remain active. Specific recommendations are offered to the local church for better ministry to the divorcing church member.
