- Abstract
- The project site was the Shalom Baptist Fellowship Church (Richmond, Va) which is located in the highest crime district in the city. Dealing with juvenile delinquency is a major problem. The program was set to serve 50-75 students. Students were given tutorial help, recreational opportunities, cultural exposure, and counseling opportunities during the summer and after school in the spring and fall of 1988 and 1989. The students, volunteers, and church members were surveyed to ascertain whether of not the project was successful. Suggestions were given to improve the program along with ideas for further church and community involvement.
