- Abstract
- The ministry project is a constructive effort to help Mexican American Baptist pastors of the Rio Grande Valley Association cope with stress. It is an attempt to provide information about stress, and to emphasize coping skills. After preliminary research, the writer found that role stress, conflict stress, and culture stress were three key stressors in the lives of Valley pastors. An eight hour seminar on stress in ministry was scheduled. The two-fold goal of increasing awareness of stress and increasing coping efficacy was emphasized in the seminar. After the seminar, six pastors were monitored over a six-week period to determine benefits received from the seminar experience. The data from these evaluations encouraged the writer to believe that the objectives of the project were realized.
