Abstract
  • This project examines perceptions of the pastor-as-leader among pastors, lay elders, and members of the Christian and Missionary Alliance by surveying and soliciting qualitative data from 58 local congregations. Distinctions between rural and urban locales and ages and occupations of respondents most noticeably affected these perceptions, while congregational size and sex of respondents made little difference. Significant difference of viewpoint emerge, reinforcing the importance of character and relationally based ministry for pastors. Further study in this area is recommended.
