- Abstract
- The author began his thesis with his Wesleyan thought that the goal of life, perfection, cannot stay in the dimension of individual or congregational life but is fulfilled when the individual or the church has reached the society with the love of Christ. With this conviction he examined the conditions of the Korean Church and the local church, the Bok-Ji church, he was serving as a senior pastor, and found that the church had too much focused on the side of individual salvation with paying little attention to joining the universal salvific work of God. At the end of his thesis, based on his Wesleyan belief and his pastoral experience, the researcher proposed on how a local church can operate its social welfare ministry successfully. He suggested these four ways: to utilize the church's resources in order to responsibly perform its missions, to recognize the importance of social welfare ministry whether its results are noticeable or not, to specialize its programs to get attention, and to associate with others that are related to ministry, directly or indirectly.
