- The project focuses on the minister's role in assisting an 88 member unit of the United Methodist Women in Waterville, Maine, to identify and enlist new leadership. The style of pastoral intervention employed is built on the theoretical base of third party consultation, using System 4 leadership principles. Major findings are that women do want their minister to care about their group, to promote it, to encourage new women to participate, to be a resource and to attend some activities. This project describes the United Methodist Women's group studied, the process of intervention, the feedback instrument, and the results. Conclusions include recommendations for pastors, women in local units, and the denomination's Women's Division.
