Abstract
  • Church educational ministry should foster discipleship and spiritual growth among all; however, adult participation is often poor and opportunities are sometimes inadequate to reach differences among adults. The church should offer a system which helps individuals to identify and understand unique needs, interests, styles, and abilities, and directs them to appropriate opportunities. Four theories--multiple intelligences, personality type, generational approach, and faith development--provide understanding of people, as well as vision for a more comprehensive system of adult religious education. Exploring and applying these theories systematically in any church could invite greater adventures in lifelong Christian learning.
