Abstract
  • A study of enabling lay ministry in the context of how the laity themselves perceive of that ministry. The study tests out the assumption that lay ministry is already being carried on in daily work/life by the laity, and that the characteristics of this ministry can be uncovered by means of an interview process. 36 Interviews constitute the primary data of the study. Characteristics of lay ministry uncovered are then related to biblical and Lutheran confessional perspectives, and to recent theological methodologies using 'narrative' in terms of how a pastor might grow in effectiveness as an enabler.
