Abstract
  • The charismatic's 'baptism in the Spirit' may be a genuine experience, but currently it is interpreted only by charismatic theology. Conflict seems to arise more from teachings than from actual experience. Research included a scriptural study of baptism and the Spirit using charismatic and non-charismatic sources and interviews with thirty people who claimed the experience. The author compared an analysis of the experiences with the results of the scriptural study to determine if an alternate to charismatic theology could be offered. The study concluded there is a scriptural, baptistic alternative which affirms the experience and promotes unity.
