Abstract
  • Fiction can be used to teach the faith. The Word of God employs fiction using parables, story illustrations, metaphors, and other literary devices. Educators have used literature in classrooms as well. The author used his very own work of fiction to teach the faith to homeschool families and Lutheran elementary children. A variety of methods were utilized including a novel unit with discussion guides and activities and a response journal. These methods demonstrated that the reading of fiction does indeed foster the discussion and teaching of the faith in classroom and homeschool settings. As a result, teachers of the faith have another tool to reach learners with the Gospel.
