  • Participants on a pilgrimage to Ireland in 2005 tell stories of personal spiritual transformation. This project is an interpretive case-study that examines that experience, and explores how the leadership of this pilgrimage facilitated spiritual growth. The 'lived metaphor' of pilgrimage gives people courage to live through the liminal ambiguity of transitions in their own lives. Insights from current adult transformational education theory, Biblical, theological, and psychological disciplines, as well as the ancient Irish tale 'The Voyage of Brendan', are used to reflect upon components of spiritual leadership which create space for spiritual growth in the midst of change.
