- Abstract
- This project searches for theological and practical models which will encourage Anglican priests to share leadership and ministry in their parishes with the people. The author reviews the doctrine of ministry throughout the Old and New Testaments with special focus on the priesthood of all believers and baptism as the ordination of the people of God. After reviewing the history of the doctrine of ministry and recent Anglican and ecumenical statements, he reports on twenty experiments with elderships and shared leadership structures, identifies twelve different models, examines questions of authority and power and concludes with recommendations for clergy, bishops and laity.
