Abstract
  • The ministry of the ordained is a provision the church makes to support the baptized in their ministry in daily life. Baptismal ministry is the primary ministry, a ministry of engagement in God's mission in the world. Using focus groups of ordained leaders as the basis, the thesis asks how ordained leadership could more effectively encourage the ministry of the baptized, how obstacles may be identified and overcome, and how the influences on ordained ministry can be managed while maintaining a focus on service to baptismal ministries. It concludes with a proposed continuing education model.
