Abstract
  • The purpose of this project is to demonstrate the process used in developing and implementing a new School of Lay Ministry at Hosanna Christian Fellowship Church which began in 1983. In 1986 the school needed to be reorganized because it lacked clear goals and a well-defined action plan for accomplishing those goals. Also, materials used were insufficient for training members. The implementation of this project demands a sound theological foundation which included an adequate view of scripture, ministry, and the role of the local church as seen in the Assemblies of God. The biblical and historical role of the laity is discussed in order to provide an adequate basis for implementing a school of lay ministry. This biblical and historical discussion is framed by my ministry theory which encompasses an integrative understanding of God, human beings, society, and the local church.
