  • As a priest at St. Anianus Coptic Orthodox Church in New Jersey, I undertook this thesis to delve into an ecclesiology that embodies a life of mission by shedding light on the Great Commission narrative. With a multifaceted approach—encompassing the 4-part “Sent to All Nations” course that provided theological education and practical training, as well as surveys and interviews—the project aims to uncover obstacles, beliefs, and perceptions related to ecclesiology and mission work within my parish. Central to this endeavor was clarifying the interconnection between Christology and pneumatology with ecclesiology. I believe this research carries the potential to not only enhance the missional endeavors at St. Anianus but also to foster a deeper understanding of the Great Commission’s relevance in other Orthodox contexts.
