Abstract
  • The thesis is based on the premise that the lack of growth in the Sands church is primarily caused by their operating from a biological family frame of reference. This means that those who are not part of the dominant family are often treated as 'outsiders'. The assumption of this thesis is that the members need to experience a shift in their thinking so that God's spiritual family, the church, becomes central to their lives rather than the biological family. The greatness of God's spiritual family is in its power to transform people's lives and unite them as one people. It is my conviction that preaching has an indispensable role to play in bringing about this transition.
