Abstract
  • The most distinguishing feature of the Church is its task to proclaim the gospel. In order to continue this proclamation church leadership needs to be intentional about making disciples. This paper stresses returning to this practive which is a role of the church. Various methods and models of disciple making and leadership development are critiqued from an African American Baptist congregation context. In exploring these models on how this may be done, disciple making and church leadership training are viewed as inseparable. With the implementation of this project both the pastor and congregation's understanding of discipleship matured.
