  • This project investigates the relationship between formal elder training and the sense of call required for exercise of the office of elder, concluding that, when formal training precedes appointment to office, it enhances a biblical sense of call and the attitudes, motivations, and goals conducive to the purpose of the call. The projects attends to the elder's identity as shepherd, qualifications for office, specific tasks, and relationship to the congregation.
