Abstract
  • Confirmation is explored as an initiatory rite into the United Methodist Church. Central to the work is conversion as the goal of confirmation. The historical and theological development of confirmation is considered, conversion is defined, an ecclesiology is proposed (church as body of Christ, covenant community, and communion of saints) and a pedagogical methodology including child development theory is outlined. The project tests the methodology and conclusions follow.
