- Abstract
- The increased movement of people around the globe means that major cities have become multi-ethnic in nature. This fact of multi-ethnicity in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney has led to the planting of ethnic-specific congregations based on McGavran's Homogeneous Unit Principle. This thesis challenges the HUP model by examining the biblical theological framework of Christ's new humanity and understanding evangelism, conversion and church-planting with that framework. Field research shows that ethnic-specific church planting brings immaturity, ethnic insulation, and frustration for Anglican rectors. A multi-ethnic church-planting strategy is God's solution, pursuant to the eschatological picture of Revelation 7:9.
