Abstract
  • This study focused on six black/white churches in southern Mississippi and Baltimore, Maryland. Crisis counseling programs of these churches were inadequate to meet congregational needs. The purpose of this study was to develop a joint interchurch crisis counseling program which would be based on a psychological and theological point of view. A twenty-four hour Christian crisis counselor training program was developed for six target churches, emphasizing a biblical basis for crisis counseling and Adam's nouthetic counseling system. This project made a practical contribution to practice of crisis counseling and enhanced administration of the ministries of the six target churches.
