  • The purposes of this descriptive-evaluative project were: 1) to offer the crisis-intervention theory as a rationale for the Toward Marriage Program and Ministry to the Engaged, and 2) to determine the effects of the program on attitudes, communication and help-seeking patterns of former participants now married. Methodology included the use of self report statements and tests (Marital Communication and Support Systems Inventories). Responses from 190 married couples indicated that program participants tended to communicate more easily and be more open to use support systems than their counterparts who had not undergone the program experience.
