Abstract
  • A local church may use mass evangelism as an effective means of evangelism in an urban setting. While personal evangelism is needed for penetration, mass evangelism is needed for impact upon an increasingly impersonal urban society. A study of the methods of the early church, and the nineteenth and twentieth century church indicated that evangelism was most fruitful when both methods were employed. The author attempted to restore the impact-penetration balance in his church's evangelistic ministry by leading it to conduct an outdoor evangelistic crusade. Results indicated a greater commitment to evangelism by the church and an increase in conversions.
