Abstract
  • The purpose of this project was to train aspiring ministers in the basics of expository preaching in a local church setting; in this case, Boone's Creek Baptist Church, Lexington, Kentucky. This examined the biblical and theological basis for expositional preaching in the local church, as well as the character and calling of the preacher. This project also examined and evaluated Charles Haddon Spurgeon's model of training aspiring ministers. The principles culled from an examination of Spurgeon's work served in training young ministers in the areas of hermeneutics, homiletics, and the delivery of sermons.
