Abstract
  • The purpose of this Doctor of Ministry Project was to develop a young adult leadership institute to (1) prepare highly motivated young adult members of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church for current and future lay and clergy leadership opportunities in the church; and (2) build and maintain a diverse group of committed members with Christian leadership skills and abilities. The institute was aimed at developing leadership potential and was designed to introduce participants to thirteen core competency areas considered important for successful church leadership. Each program component, activity, and course was designed to strengthen the participants knowledge in one or more of these competency areas. The participant's evaluation of the program indicate that they feel better prepared to be church leaders and were highly motivated by their participation in the institute to share their experiences.
