Abstract
  • During a period of revitalization and growth, the Florence Congregational Church was faced with the challenge of incorporating new members. The use of the liturgical year as the operative framework allowed new members to be introduced to the basic worship life of the church. The Revised Common Lectionary provided a biblical foundation which was compared and contrasted with Congregational principles as described in Arthur Rouner's The Congregational way of life. The renewed understanding of what it means to be a member of a Congregational church has strengthened the covenant fellowship, which continues to grow.
