Abstract
  • The project integrates principles of effectiveness and motivation with biblical-theological images of 'the body of Christ' and 'priesthood of all believers'. The integration results in several insights and implications for church planning: participa tive organizational structure is biblically and organizationally consistent; consensus building fosters unity; negative motivators must be adequately addressed; church life and mission should dictate organizational structure; participative leadership is crucial to an effective congregation; leadership for church planning should come from outside the congregation; good planning incorporates and adapts outside resources; and congregational effectiveness results from intentional planning to achieve such a state.
