  • Japan has seen the phenomenal appearance and growth of hundreds of new religions in this century. This bibliographic study examines the history, beliefs, and practices of fifteen important new sects with special emphasis on their worldview within the historical context of Japanese religions. It is the author's thesis that although the new religions appear modern in form, they remain essentially animistic. A biblical critique of the general beliefs and practices is given, as well as a suggested approach for Christian missionaries who seek to convert members and establish them in a biblical worldview.
