Abstract
  • The purpose of this project is to study the effectiveness of the Evangelism Explosion program, how it is effectively adapted in the phases of friendship, evangelism, discipleship, and healthy church growth in Koren American churches, and also to equip the Korean diaspora churches worldwide, as well as Korean American churches, to become missional churches that follow the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. This project used a quantitative and qualitative research method with questionnaires to pastors of twenty-four Korean American churches which have implemented, or are currently implementing, the EE program for spiritual growth of new and existing members. The EE program has two weakneses in Korean American churches. One is a lack of networks of relationship, and the other is a lack of training and application for witnessing as a way of life. This project shows that the EE program is a good model of discipleship for evangelism-orientation, if properly adapted to Korean American churches. EE is not a canned evangelism program, but it provides a good model of relationship evangelism. This project recommends that the Korean American church needs to make EE their own, and adapt it to their own contexts. This project believes that the effectiveness of the EE program depends on developing a network of relationships in Korean American churches.
