  • Historically, music has been an important component in the black worship experience. However, the black church is in danger of becoming disconnected from its historical and theological underpinnings. This study helps black pastors and others involved in the music ministry to become more sensitive to issues related to the use of music. The results of a sampling of area pastors and musicians revealed a need for greater pastoral leadership. Therefore, these guidelines were developed to improve the use of music in the black church.
