Abstract
  • The project develops a model for supervision for the integration of social awareness and ministry functioning in the context of a parish-based, year-long internship in the Lutheran system of theological education. The method used to develop the model followed two designs: the use of a survey questionnaire, and the interaction with and observation of a group of twelve pastors and interns. Together these sources suggested a type of supervision which focused on administration of congregational life and program, pastoral care, social ministry, stewardship, enabling lay ministry, and which experienced the supervisory relationship as one of working together and planning jointly. The results suggest a model of supervision which the author terms 'supervision for empowerment'.
