Abstract
  • 'God's Servants Together: Keeping Sabbath' was a gathering produced for the regional and national denominational staff of the American Baptist Churches USA for the purpose of renewing covenantal relationships among that group of key leaders within the denomination. Covenants become merely dead pieces of paper with no hold on our hearts unless they are undergirded by relationships that allow them to endure over time. Covenantal relationships develop through communal practices that nurture them, such as discernment, dialogue, worship, testimony, hospitality and forgiveness. Sabbath is an overarching practice that provides opportunity for many of those practices which facilitate living together as God's people.
