Abstract
  • This project explores the faith stories of 14 male members of the United Church of Canada in Peterborough, Ontario, seeking to determine the 'functional theology' of men in the church--what they believe and how they come to their belief. The men meet together once, dividing into two smaller groups that each meet twice. From 300 pages of verbatim transcripts of these meetings, six themes emerge: loss, longing, search, journey, connection, new life. Recognition of these critical themes should influence the conduct of ministry with men.
