Abstract
  • When couples attempt to pray together one of the obstacles they face is defensiveness. This project taught an approach to couple prayer utilizing the communication skills previously learned in Couple Communication I combined with the Prayer of Examen as a means of reducing defensiveness in couples as they share and pray together about their growing awareness of God. Twelve Christian married couples participated in a twelve week program involving group sessions and homework. This study measured whether there was an increase in marital satisfaction, spiritual well-being and self differentiation. The results suggested some statistically significant increases in marital satisfaction and self-differentiation.
