Abstract
  • The author states that those who are responsible for forming seminaries are open to culturally inclusive approaches to formation, but often to do not know how to proceed. He bases this assertion on results of interviews conducted in three midwestern seminaries. He demonstrates that an intercultural approach to seminary formation is consistent with church documents on seminary training, as well as with contemporary theology. The author explains at length the essential cultural categories necessary for gaining an understanding of cultural difference, which is the key to intercultural communication. Finally, he offers a culturally sensitive model for seminary orientation, and articulates a spirituality of intercultural formation based on Rahnerian theology.
