Abstract
  • Based on Margaret Sawin's concept of religious education, this seven-week church program gathered together 23 people of all ages for the purpose of learning about themselves, their families, one another and about God. Called family cluster, it was different from many other Christian education programs. Besides encouraging different generations to participate, it stressed the affective mode, in how people care and relate to one another, rather than a person's cognitive capabilities. It was unique in that the participants were essentially the architects of the program; what happened in the program ultimately depended on them.
