Abstract
  • This project proposes that a declining congregation that chooses to emphasize the Great Commission, prayer, biblical stewardship, and the means of grace can stop decline and make a transition in ministry to discipleship and outreach to the local community. Drawing on studies of the Missio Dei, the pastoral role, the struggle between ministry and numerical growth, the use of community resources, and the experiences of pastors and district and synodical officials, the project focuses on the transitional history of one such congregation as a case study.
