This project in a parish-based setting--Trinitarian Congregational Church, Concord, Massachusetts, from October 1994 to June 1995--initiated a ministry of elderly laypeople in a faith-based mentoring relationship with partners at least a half-generation younger. The project attempted to enhance the spiritual well-being and psychosocial integration of the elderly through two sets of biweekly meetings: one of life histories, personal experience, and issues of faith; and one of a supervisory nature as a peer support, sharing, and learning group. Participant evaluations supported statistical results in establishing the effectiveness of this project.
