- Abstract
- The project determines the effectiveness of radio, used creatively, as a softening device to help people traditionally resistant to Protestantism become more receptive. The study developed a questionnaire which enlisted Portuguese speakers in an eight-week program to evaluate a weekly broadcast of gospel messages. The study sought to measure attitudinal change, content assimilation, and possible future involvement in Protestant activities. Results were: attitudinal change: 30 percent indicated a positive shift; content assimilation: a majority indicated understanding and retention; possible future involvement: 46 percent indicated interest in Protestant activities. The conclusion is that radio has a worthwhile effect.
