- Abstract
- The goals of this project were: 1) to investigate what motivational factors influence voluntary contributions to a church-related, skilled-care facility; 2) to formulate criteria by which these factors may be evaluated in light of a gospel-oriented theology of stewardship; and 3) to suggest an approach to the task of the development officer in a social ministry institution of the church which would enhance the effectiveness of fundraising while remaining faithful to sound stewardship principles. The research was conducted by a questionnaire to 411 recent donors to The Good Shepherd Home for the Aged in Ashland, Ohio. The 24-question instrument tested psychological subjective forces which may motivate gifts and the effects of objective stimuli which are part of the development program of Good Shepherd.
