Abstract
  • A church budget is a missions statement written in dollars and cents language. Giving to support a church budget, therefore, is dependent upon clearly stated missional objectives of a church. This project developed a ministry action budget for Rockville First Baptist Church. A theological rationale for ministry action budgeting was developed from the biblical concepts of mission and stewardship, and the historical role of the church as community institution and change agent. Using that background, the church's leadership established a budget philosophy. A ministry action budget was then developed. The project then drew the conclusion that an effective ministry action budget is a document that both supports financially and communicates clearly the missional objectives of a church.
