Abstract
  • The aim of this project is to help lay-people make connections between biblical principles and economic policies. The author believes that economic debates in most Western countries do not place enough emphasis on the social objectives which any economic system should achieve. The project outlines and evaluates various economic systems in light of social objectives, and lays out a biblical basis for economic policy-making. It documents poverty in New Zealand in a separate chapter. The author concludes that dialogue between clergy and laity should lead to a positive contribution to public economic debate. A study guide is appended to help such dialogue.
